Glatiramer Acetate Injection is a prescription medicine that is used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), to include clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease, in adults.
It is not known if glatiramer acetate injection is safe and effective in children under 18 years of age.
MS is a disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the myelin sheath - the protective covering around nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. This immune attack can cause nerve damage and lead to the symptoms of MS.
Glatiramer acetate is made up of a mixture of synthetic amino acids - the building blocks of proteins - that resemble myelin.
The way glatiramer acetate works in patients with MS is not fully understood. It is thought to act by modifying immune processes believed to be involved in MS.
Glatiramer Acetate Injection from Ajenat Pharmaceuticals is indicated for adults with relapsing forms of MS. It has not been established as safe and effective in patients under 18 years of age.
Do not use Glatiramer Acetate Injection if you are allergic to glatiramer acetate or mannitol.
Each pre-filled syringe contains 1 mL of Glatiramer Acetate Injection.
